Our featured isolated guitar track today is “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits! This song is one of my all-time favorites and I highly recommend that all guitar players learn it.

Track Notes:
Knopfler plays this with his fingers as many of us already know, but the isolated track really highlights this and brings to light notes that have been lost in the mix. As someone who has been playing and teaching this song for many years I was shocked to hear these. We can also hear the lead playing at the very ending as there is no fade out in this version.

Slow down the track using YouTube’s slow down feature, or better yet, use “Anytune pro+” as it is much better in speed reduction and quality.  Learn both the lead and rhythm parts using TAB’s plus your ear, then apply it to the slowed down track with zero volume on your guitar to get all of the nuances. Once you can nail it, it’s time to turn up and speed up!

There are a lot of very tasty riffs in this one. We challenge you to learn them all by memory including both solos. Then try it to a backing track  to see if you can play it with no training wheels. Good luck!
